So This Is The Change We Need?

With the passage last night of the “Healthcare” Bill and the signing of that Bill into Law by the president, America has taken the largest turn toward Socialism in its history.  The president and the Dems on Capitol Hill are walking around calling this a historic moment in America and I agree with them.  So this is the “change” Mr. Obama ran on.  This is the “change” his duped supporters swallowed during the election.  This is the “change” that you and I will be forced to live and pay for for the rest of our lives.

A few days ago I heard the president touting what this “change” would mean for America.  Now let me tell you the truth:

MYTH: The president said that millions of Americans will now be able to get “the same” healthcare that members of Congress get.

FACT:  This is a lie!  Members of Congress get elite medical treatment through the Capitol Hill medical system.

MYTH:  The president said that this legislation will cut the deficit, “by over a trillion dollars.”

FACT: This is a lie!  The Congressional Budget Office states that this bill will cut the deficit by 138 Billion.  First, this is NOWHERE near a Trillion dollars.  Second, This 138 Billion is only saved IF the Medicare cuts go through AND doesn’t take into account the “Doctor Fix.”  Recently, Obama said that he would cut the fees  paid to doctors that treat Medicare patients.  This was supposed to save about 400 Billion and help pay for the “healthcare” bill.  The problem is that at the last minute, the “Doctor Fix” was taken out of the Bill!  Say goodbye to any possible deficit cuts.

MYTH: Over the last several weeks, the president has vilified insurance companies and bug drug companies.  He talked about “eliminating insurance subsidies within Medicare that aren’t making anybody healthier but are fattening the profits of insurance companies.”

FACT:  At the last minute, several provisions were put into the legislation that HELP big drug companies and actually MAKE MORE MONEY for the insurance companies.  The president stated that he would lower healthcare premium increases and make insurance more affordable.  This is a lie!!  With these last minute provisions, insurance premiums will still increase and any penalties imposed by the federal government can AND WILL simply be passed onto consumers.

MYTH: The president has said that you will not be affected by this legislation.

FACT:  Every American will be affected by this new law.  Either you will be the one of the recipients or you will be one of the providers.  let be define each a little more.  For those of you that have worked hard in your field, provided for your family, made mostly wise financial decisions and already have adequate healthcare – YOU ARE NOW A PROVIDER.  If you have struggled with finding work, have found it hard to pay your bills and mortgage, agonize about whether to pay bills or buy food and look to the government for long-term help – YOU ARE A RECIPIENT.  With the passage of this bill, the Democrats (against the will of the people) have shackled our kids with Trillions in debt.

MYTH: Bart Stupak and the “Pro-life” Democrats oppose government funding of abortion

FACT:  Under intense pressure from the White House and Congressional leaders, Stupak and the rest have sold out their principles for their own re-elections.  Through the guise of an Executive Order, the White House BOUGHT the votes they needed to pass this MASSIVE spending bill.

MYTH: The House passed this bill with specific guarantees that the Senate would vote on a “Fix Bill.”  This is supposed to fix everything that is wrong with the bill that just passed.  WAIT!?!?!  If there are things that need to be “FIXED” in this WHY DID IT GET PASSED?

FACT:  This bill should NOT have passed!  The American people didn’t want it.  The “Fix Bill” won’t fix anything.

My friends, I truly believe that this is the beginning of the end for our form of government and out way of life.  Now that Obama has rammed one piece of Socialism through, they will stop at nothing.  Next on the agenda will be Immigration Reform.  Mark my words, Obama and his cronies will give away our country!

The time is rapidly approaching where diplomatic solutions won’t be enough.  Those in power talk about bi-partisanship while not listening to anyone in the public.  They lie to the American people about EVERYTHING then smile and applaud as they steal our money.

The election this November will be a telling factor as to the future of our country.

One last thought: If the Dems thought the Tea Parties were big in the last few years, WAIT UNTIL APRIL 15TH THIS YEAR!

Quick Thought: Make a Decision

When I went through Officer Candidate School, the TAC  (Teach, Advise, Council) Officers  told us that in whatever situation we find ourselves in…make a decision.  It might be the wrong one, but there is NOTHING worse to a soldier in the field than indecision.  You can always make adjustments as the situation develops; but you cannot, under any circumstances, NOT make a decision.  To look indecisive destroys morale and causes you to lose the confidence of your troops.

President Obama, for God’s sake, make a decision about the troops in Afghanistan!  You are killing the morale of the men and women that are protecting this country…

How To Lose A War by Barack Obama

war1Now that Sick and Tired American is back up and running (I apologize again…), let me waste no time in getting back to my commentary on the state of “things.”

If the president were to write a book on how to fight in Afghanistan, I would generously title it, How To Lose a War.  I could title it, How To Kill American Soldiers, or How The Commander in Chief Failed America.  You see, President Barack Obama is doing what he does best, instead of doing what’s right.  He is waiting to make a decision based on the poll numbers or popular sentiment.

What he should be doing is listening to his combat Generals (you know, the men trying to win the war, not re-election) and give them the support they need.

During the campaign, this was Barack Obama, “It’s time to heed the call from General McKiernan and others for more troops. That’s why I’d send at least two or three additional combat brigades to Afghanistan. We also need more training for Afghan Security forces, more non-military assistance to help Afghans develop alternatives to poppy farming, more safeguards to prevent corruption, and a new effort to crack down on cross-border terrorism. Only a comprehensive strategy that prioritizes Afghanistan and the fight against al Qaeda will succeed, and that’s the change I’ll bring to the White House.” [source: http://www.cfr.org/index.html]

Where is that person now?  Mr. President, your combat commander has made the request and you wait and wait and wait?  The your administration attacks him?  Where are these brigades of men you talked about sending to fight Al Qaeda?  Why wasn’t that one of your first actions after you took over?  The answer is sir, you ARE a liar!  Men are dying on the battlefield while you waffle and make excuses.  We want our soldiers home, Mr. President, but we want them home victorious!  You have been told what General Mcchrystal needs to win the war.  GIVE IT TO HIM!  As you promised.

Now wait a minute, Patriot, the election in Afghanistan was loaded with fraud and a run-off election needs to be scheduled before The White House can make a decision.  Sen. John Kerry said recently, “I don’t see how President Obama can make a decision about the committing of our additional forces or even the further fulfillment of our mission that’s here today without an adequate government in place or knowledge about what that government’s going to be…” [source: http://www.cbsnews.com]  So let me get this right?  We sent in our troops to secure freedom FROM a tyrannical/evil government and to stop the training and sponsoring of terrorists by that government, but we can’t send more troops (requested by the commanders on the ground) until we know the outcome of an election?  Mr. Kerry, before we got there, THERE WERE NO ELECTIONS!!  This is ridiculous.  Send us in there, let us do our jobs!  By not supporting the soldiers that are there already, this administration is hanging them out to dry!

It makes me sick!

Here’s what needs to happen:

Commit to victory in Afghanistan by sending more troops and aid the Afghan people in their struggle against Al Qaeda and the Taliban.  Fully engage the government of Afghanistan, regardless who the leader is, in training and arming more Afghan soldiers to fight along side us.

Do what must be done.  War is ugly business and we need to lose this sense of a moral “high ground.”  Our enemies kidnap, torture, murder, mame, bomb and use human shields.  They will stop at nothing to defeat us, why should we?  The media in this country loves telling the story of evil Americans doing evil things to innocent people.  Why can’t we show stories of our soldiers helping, feeding, building?  Every time we build a school, someone blows it up.  We fly to remote villages to give children medical care.  We distribute educational material to women and young girls who can’t read.  Damn it, WE ARE THE GOOD GUYS!!  But our story isn’t being told?  No amount of food is going to win a war though.  No amount of medicine to villagers in need will root out the evil in that country.  The American people can’t stomach what it takes to win a war.  They can’t handle the truth that we must become evil to destroy evil.  Once the bombs start going off more frequently in the United States in pizza parlors and movie theaters; once busses in New York become the targets of bombers; once the people begin to experience what we have so far been spared, maybe then we will begin to do what it takes to win.  Not only win the war, but win the peace.

ACORN is bad? Really?

Hey everyone, ACORN is bad. Now that we have gotten that out of the way, lets look at how bad they are. ACORN, Association of Community Organizers For Reform Now, has been all over the news lately with the video from James O’Keefe’s hidden video of ACORN staffer, Tresa Kaelke helping them set up a prostitution ring including the importation of under-aged prostitutes from El Salvador. In response to this video, ACORN has launched a media blitz denouncing Mr. O’Keefe in the following article; Attack Videographer Caught in Manipulation and Lies.

The article claims, ”They were not believable”, said Ms. Kaelke of the two actors. “Somewhat entertaining, but they weren’t even good actors. I didn’t know what to make of them. They were clearly playing with me. I decided to shock them as much as they were shocking me.” Obviously, there were three good actors in the room, Ms. Karlke.

For those that don’t know much about this group, here is a great article written by discoverthenetworks.org; ACORN and information from acorn.org; The Truth About ACORN. You be the judge. Personally, I agree with Manhattan Institute scholar Sol Stern who wrote that ACORN, while professing its dedication to “the poor and powerless,” in fact “promotes a 1960s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism, central planning, victimology, and government handouts to the poor.” Their recent actions demonstrate that they will do anything and say anything to further their agenda.

And most recently, the US House of Representatives joined the Senate in defunding ACORN of millions of taxpayer dollars. boston.com reported, “The US House today joined the Senate in voting to defund ACORN, the community advocacy group beset by allegations of voter registration fraud and videotapes apparently showing employees advising conservative activists posing as a prostitute and pimp how to break the law.

The measure, offered as part of a motion on a student loan bill, passed by a vote of 345-75, with all “no” votes coming from Democrats.” [source: www.boston.com]

All the “NO” votes were from Democrats? Really? Isn’t that interesting? They are not pawns of the “special interests”, they are not in bed with law-breaking ACORN? Not the Democrats!

These people make me sick. They are just as bad as Neo-Nazis on the streets of Birmingham. They are just as bad as bomb making terrorists in Iraq. They are just as bad as gang members on the streets of Chicago. Wrong is wrong and no amount of media coverage is going to change that fact!

The Republicans better wake up and stop talking about a “movement” in this country. The people are sick of both sides of the aisle; corrupt democrats and ineffective republicans. Something needs to break before we end up with socialized medicine and more taxpayer bailouts of corporations. The President is now talking about more stimulus for newspapers. Great, spend more money! Its not like we have it just ready to be picked off the trees. Well, wait a minute. The FED is printing away aren’t they?

One last note before I get back to my life. During his speak before Congress where Joe Wilson correctly called the president a liar, Mr. Obama said that he brought the country’s economy “back from the brink.” I ask you, good reader, do you really think the economy is turning around? Or is this a coordinated effort by the White House, the Left media and the spin doctors to make us all feel better? My economic situation is the worse it has been in years. My businesses are gone, and my family is barely making it day by day. How about you? Have you seen the economic turnaround that was promised? Do you find it easy to find work? Do you have more money in the bank now? Is your family better off because of Obama’s stimulus?

Mine isn’t.

“…the perils of too little [government].”

Last night President Obama gave a passionate speech to a joint session of congress about the merits and necessity of his healthcare plan. He used the typical tactic of saying that the right is trying to scare people away from the bill, then went on to list his own horror stories of why people should support the bill. The most repeated “scare tactic” is that Americans are going to die without this bill’s passage.

It also didn’t take him long to get back to the campaign tactic of blaming the Bush administration for America’s woes. We all knew it was coming and we were not disappointed.

During the speech, one of the Republican members shouted “You lie!” and the hall fell into a moment of disorientation. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of The House, turned to look at security with a look on her face of, “well aren’t you going to remove him?” Personally, I do think the president was lying to the American people, but one doesn’t disrespect the office of the president. No matter how much we disagree with the man or his politics, the office must be respected. Was the congressman right? Yes. Should he have acted that way? No.

President Obama made the case against all the information we have been hearing about his plan lately. He said that no plan would be signed that didn’t “add one dime to the deficit.” Now how is that possible? Trying to insure 25% of the population without increasing spending. What does he know that we don’t? He also said that he would not cut Medicare. Then went on to talk about the money he was going to save by cutting Medicare. I don’t know of anyone else caught that, but that’s what he said. He said that there would be no “death panels”. But the bill itself refers to panels that discuss “end of life” issues. Uh, isn’t that a death panel? He said that the bill would not cover illegal aliens. Again, the bill itself says that citizenship is not a requirement for the “public option”, which is really a “government option.” The reason why they call it the “public option” is because THE PUBLIC (you and me!) are the ones paying for it.

The president stated that his bill would require people “that can afford health insurance” to carry health insurance. He said this would be similar to current state requirements for automobile insurance. Wait, so now it is illegal NOT to have health insurance based simply on the belief that we can afford it or not? Are police going to ask for your license, registration, proof of insurance AND proof of health care? Are we going to be cited for not having health insurance? And who decides whether or not we can afford this mandatory insurance? Anyone tried to get on government assistance lately? Basically, if you have a job, you make too much money!

One of the main things that caught my attention last night and has been noodling around in me head was the president’s reference to “…the perils of too little government.” I would have liked the president to expand on this issue and actually list these perils. I have been thinking about this and the perils that I see are, self-reliance, independence, a sense of community, people helping people and above all, liberty. Now before you scream at me about taking the president out of context let me give you all of the presidents’ words. “You see, our predecessors understood that government could not, and should not, solve every problem. They understood that there are instances when the gains in security from government action are not worth the added constraints on our freedom. But they also understood that the danger of too much government is matched by the perils of too little;…”

The problem as I see it is not the size of our government. We all agree it is too big. The problem lies with who determines what “too big” is.

Personally, Mr. President, I would gladly take the perils of “too little government” over the tyranny of “too much.”
