How Has Our “Great Experiment” Come To This?

Monday, August 30th, 2010

How has our “Great Experiment” come to this?  In under 250 years we have gone from a fledgling nation based on individual freedom and liberty to the brink of becoming another socio-communist state.  In those 250 years, we have seen the rise and fall of almost EVERY socialist, communist and fascist regime on the planet.  Those that still exist live in a country 50, 60 sometimes 100 years behind our own.  For example, in Cuba, they still drive cars from the 1950’s because they lack the infrastructure to build modern vehicles.  The Nazi Fascists in Germany killed 12 Million people, including 6 Million Jews, and yet their 1,000 year reich only lasted 12 years.  The Russian Communists held power from 1922 to 1991, a mere 69 years and yet it only took Stalin 5 years to kill upwards of 60 Million people.  Even today we have dictators like Muammer Qaddafi, Kim Jong-il and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.  In Iran we see almost daily protests for political reformation being crushed by police.  Even here in America, “Tea Party” protestors are widely considered by our “progressive” friends as terrorists and insurgents.  Our government has even gone so far as to list military veterans as possible terrorists, “Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she was briefed before the release of a controversial intelligence assessment and that she stands by the report, which lists returning veterans among terrorist risks to the U.S.” [source: The Washington Times]

who-is-the-terrorist

So here we are.  Weakened and in debt to the tune of 12 Trillion Dollars!  Most of that debt is held by a communist government.  We import far more than we export and our national assets of 74 Trillion Dollars are dwarfed by our National Liabilities of 106 Trillion Dollars.  Many of our states are on the brink of financial collapse and the attempt to create jobs for our people has all but failed.  More people than ever are losing their homes and the banks have almost completely stopped lending to small business entrepreneurs.  Our government’s solution to this crisis is to tax the rich.  Tax the people in this country that already shoulder most of the burden.  Tax the people that create jobs through their investing and their business creation.  Tax the people that have the financial means to give more to charities.  Tax the people that have the financial stability that we all crave desperately.  Brilliant.  On top of all that we are forced to “bail-out” failing banks and automobile companies.  Now they are going to ram a massive government take-over of healthcare down our throats and have the audacity to tell us it is deficit neutral.  Are there really people that believe this nonsense?  We have been severely weakened economically to the point where The United States stands ready to lose its AAA credit rating in the world and other currencies are being touted to replace the Dollar as the global currency of choice.  250 years ago, there was no Dollar.  Now we have all but destroyed it.

Not only have we been weakened financially, but we are being weakened morally.  Day after day I hear accounts of this mall and that not playing Christmas music because someone got offended.  Or a city council removing a nativity scene because someone saw it and was enraged by the public display of religion.  Or, the school that has all but cancelled their annual celebration of Christmas because a non-Christian parent complained.  And yet, we are forced to endure Godless and sanctimonious greetings like Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings.  I know both sides of this fight because I was born to a Jewish Mother, therefore I am genetically Jewish.  I grew up celebrating Hanukah with my Father and sitting through the school Christmas plays as one of the few Jewish kids at my school.  My Father didn’t complain because he knew and understood the Constitution.  I was happy to celebrate Christmas with my friends and teach them about my holidays and my faith.  In doing so, we all grew more knowledgeable about each other and our diversities.  Today people think that if one person celebrates their holiday it takes away from someone else celebrating theirs.  That couldn’t be more wrong and is absolutely against what the Constitution stands for.  We are supposed to defend our own faith as well as the faith of our fellow citizens, not destroy their faith to bolster our own.

So what do we do?  I for one am teaching my kids to shoot, not only to defend themselves if necessary but to hunt if it comes to it.  I know that sounds radical but I am also talking with my wife about starting a small garden and adding solar cells to the roof, as well.  More importantly, I stand up for my beliefs and defend the beliefs of others.  When someone greets me with a Happy Holidays I smile and give them a Merry Christmas in return.  Don’t be afraid to offend someone, but don’t make it your aim to offend them.  Be genuine.  Read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and teach them to your children.  Teach them how our country was founded and relate our Founding Fathers’ deeds to what we must to today.  Make sure you understand the difference between a “right” and a “privilege.”  Understand that with rights come responsibility.  Get in the fight.  Organize, fund-raise, create groups to voice your opinions, support your candidate of choice and be ready to defend your positions and your values.

Friends, I believe a war is coming.  When, I don’t know but I can tell you that I will ready for it.  Whether it is fought with ideas and speeches or vehicles and guns, I am ready.  Are you?  250 years ago, a group of insurgents defeated the greatest military power on the planet and secured their freedom from tyranny, they also secured yours.  In the 250 years since, it has been a continuous battle to keep our country free and millions have paid with their lives.  In the coming years we all may be called upon to do the same.  I don’t look forward to it and i don’t want it to happen, but if our country continues down this path, it may be something nobody can stop.  I DO NOT advocate violence toward any person or organization, and I certainly DO NOT want any harm to come to our current leadership.  But I will defend my liberty!  If a political, economic, social or physical battle is coming you need to be ready for it.  The best way you can prepare is to be educated about the principles this country was founded on: Individual liberty and responsibility; That all people are equal; That equal opportunity does not mean equal reward; And that it is the duty of every citizen to protect the freedoms of the other.

We can change future events, but it takes education, planning and the will to fight for our freedom.  As Alan West said so eloquently, “I will not go down and tell my children that I didn’t have the courage, the conviction, the commitment or the character to fight for this country.  Don’t go home and let your children down.”

I won’t!  Will you?

Welcome To The Matrix

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Okay, The Patriot, has finally lost his mind.  That’s what many of you are thinking right now.  Many of you thought that years ago when I created this site.  But with the unveiling of the latest incarnation of “Healthcare”, or as I like to call it, “The Ultimate Liberal Scheme To Take My Money And Give It Their Supporter So They Will Continue To Get Elected-Care,” the liberals on capitol hill have shown their true colors again.  Obama’s colorful language doesn’t hide his belief (and the belief of most liberals) that hard working, tax payers are nothing more than batteries that feed the federal government.  Without us, they would have no revenue and with no revenue they would have nothing to give their voting block.  So you see, we (the people that REALLY pay taxes in this country) are their “cash-cow.”  Every time the “good idea fairy” shows her face around Washington, they simply tax us more to pay for their vote buying schemes.  ”Obama-care” is the biggest scam yet.

Frankly, I am sick and tired of paying for other people!  Yes I feel compassion for them and will help them when I can.  BUT DON’T FORCE ME TOO!!!  These Liberals use the tax code to force us into doing what they want and I can’t take anymore.  We, the American people, are NOT responsible for the bad decisions of others, damn it!  If you slept around and have 5 kids from 3 different men, that’s your own fault; If you got addicted to Meth while in college and failed out and now live on the street, that’s your own damn fault; If you made bad business decisions and your Wall Street investing firm is going under, that’s your fault!  Why are we, the American people, responsible for bailing you out, or paying for your healthcare, or feeding your children?  We’re not!

But…..   I guarantee you that if you are reading this, you do give to charities and you do help those in need.  but you do it because it is the right thing to do and your heart is generous, not because some Washington Liberal ordered you too.  I have 3 children that depend on me to feed them, clothe them, educate them, and provide for their future.  My wife is a stay-at-home Mom and a home-schooler, which means she works as hard or harder than I do for our family.  We have not always been financially stable and I have not always held long-term jobs.  In fact, I have switched careers several times in my life.  But we have NEVER taken from a government program and when we did apply, we either made too much money the year before or weren’t the right skin color.  I will never rely on the federal government for anything with regards to my family.  They will not feed, house, clothe, or educate my children.  The moment they do, I have failed them as a parent.  Now please don’t get me wrong.  There are times in life when everyone needs a helping hand.  All of us need a boost up from time to time.  Turning to the government should be a last resort.  There are plenty churches and private charities that are there for those times when all seems lost.  When you turn to the government, you become beholden to the government.  In my eyes, its like selling your soul for one more meal.

My friends, just like in The Matrix, you are the energy that keeps the machine running.  Your tax dollars are their blood and eventually they are going to run out of people to bleed.  We’re not their yet, but we’re close.

Is America on The Brink of Another Revolution?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

A recent IM scroll about the state of our country and its possible future:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The Defender

Dude I wanna write something, but there is so much stupid shit I don’t know where to begin

The Patriot

tell me about it…

The Defender

I see the revolution on the horizon…this year…

The Patriot

this year?

The Defender

2010…sometime this year….possibly even before the election. Something will set it off….I really think everything is in place…just need the spark

The Patriot

i still don’t think enough of the American people are pissed off. the trouble is that the government seems to be trying to STOP a revolution by giving poor people a ton of free stuff, healthcare, etc. But the poor people aren’t the ones pissed off, its the middle class.

The Defender

I think it’ll be a mob…not a real movement. but its coming

The Patriot

i think some major tax hikes on the rich will drive them to leave the country. Then “the rich” will be the middle class, you and me and the bulk of Americans. THEN we will see the revolution.  The poor rarely revolt, but a disillusioned middle class can wreak havoc

The Defender

this union nonsense is going to kill us all

The Patriot

i need to read up on that, get mad and write something. These statist liberals bowing to union boss pressure makes me sick. it just adds to the “us and them” feeling in the middle class.

The Defender

redistribution of wealth. Union takeover. payoffs. bribes.

The Patriot

so what are we missing for a revolution? not a mob protest but a true organized revolution. in my book i identify 5 major factors to a successful revolution:  #1 Opposing Force, #2 Polarizing Figure, #3 Human Misery, #4 Unbridled Self-sacrifice and #5 A Trigger Event

The Defender

the government is becoming the tyrannical/opposing force.

The Patriot

#2 polarizing figure

The Defender

could be Palin

The Patriot

no way

The Defender

don’t know…the left hates her ass

if not her…then the Tea Party movement as a whole

The Patriot

it’s gonna be someone from simple beginnings, an ordinary person, but an amazing speaker. I hate to use him as an example, but look at Hitler’s Fascist revolution. came from nowhere,.  He was a great orator, and took over a country in misery after the first world war.

The Defender

Joe the Plumber?

The Patriot

Now, he was a mass murderer and  this movement will be NOTHING like the Nazi party but the same principles apply.  Then again, who was the figure during the first revolution? George Washington? Not a great speaker, but a strong leader.

The Defender

could go either way.

The Patriot

he did have a great speaker as his VP though, John Adams.

What I am saying is that this movement needs a leader!

The Defender

I think that Palin is the most polarizing figure in the country

The Patriot

that much is clear, she is not a strong, persuading leader.  She comes from simple beginnings and comes across as an ordinary person, but I don’t think she has the speaking ability required to rally millions.

The Defender

I still think that a Gingrich/Palin ticket in 2012 is the way to go

The Patriot

I disagree, the people are sick of politicians in any form.  i think it will be a military vet that rises to the top

The Defender

I think she is strong…and getting stronger….in follower-ship. Thats one of the main traits for your figure

The Patriot

Not really.  This will be someone who can capture the minds of the people and show them what a strong leader looks like, not a politician

The Defender

I don’t know….

The Patriot

We don’t need someone that cares for us, we need someone that is willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of the country. people will follow a leader like that and be willing to give everything they have for their liberty, even their own life.  That’s what happened the first time.

The Defender

what about that LTC running in FL?

The Patriot

He is awesome!  also, I think people want someone to tell them what to do and they will follow orders as long as they are working for the cause.

The Defender

your right about that….not a whole lot of leaders out there…thats what got us into this mess; people just following the government

The Patriot

“take that hill, sgt” that works way better than, “can you guys risk your life for a meaningless hilltop we are going to give them back next week?”

The Defender

your right

The Patriot

#3 human misery

The Defender

Tea Party?  I think the misery is on the rise

The Patriot

I don’t think we have enough misery. It’s a strange thing to say, but i think things need to get a little worse before enough people wake up.

The Defender

yeah, but its coming.  when the taxes go up so much on the middle class and every one else sits on their ass and gets everything given to them…misery is done

The Patriot

check this out, in 2009 there were 2.5 million foreclosures, this year experts are forecasting 3 million more families losing their homes. Obama wants to tax banks whether they got bailout money or not. of course the banks will pass this on to the people. This can’t continue.  It’s coming!

The Defender

Hell yeah…its coming!!

The Patriot

another thing, each year fewer and fewer people actually pay taxes to the government. that means that they are going to work even harder to collect from people that owe less and less.

The Defender

and more businesses are running over seas…not just for the cheaper labor, but lower taxes

The Patriot

True!  The more taxes the government puts on us, the fewer people are going to pay them.  Hey, have you been watching the specials by judge andrew napolitano on FOX about the Constitution?

The Defender

hell, the people in Obama’s administration don’t pay them now! Geithner, Rangel…thats just a couple…and they are BOTH on the finance committees.  No, I haven’t seen it…

The Patriot

i love his segment about the 17 enumerated powers of the congress.

The Defender

The govt is wiping their asses with the constitution

The Patriot

its amazing that the Congress can find ways around the constitution and about 80% of the things they do are unconstitutional, but the courts don’t do their part of “checks and balances.”  The courts let the congress do whatever they want and the president tells the congress what he will sign and what he won’t so they basically have to do what he wants.  it’s sick…  do you remember my article about going to washington to serve vs what we have now, going to washington to rule, gain power and money.

The Defender

yeah… I saw it.  The current government is wiping their collective butts with the Constitution. They have forgotten that the People giveth…the People Taketh AWAY!!!!! Its up to the government to figure out how it will be taken away; by ballot or bullet?

The Patriot

politicians today line their pockets with OUR money. they buy votes with bribes and promises, with OUR money. They tell us to live a certain way and then live a different way, with OUR money.

The Defender

you see where NY is wanting to limit salt? The commercials for butter now touts how Denmark lives without trans-fats

The Patriot

lol yeah… since when is it the role of government to “take care of us?”  You make a good point. The ballot has gotten us here cause they give people a candidate of a certain skin color, promising to give them everything free and expecting nothing in return. Gee, who is going to win that election?  Two party systems only work when the population is close to 50/50.  Imagine the nightmare of a 70/30 split in the voting population.  It’ll be a coup!

The Defender

Someone made a point yesterday…if so many people work for the govt, who are they going to vote for…the guy to keep govt big or the guy promises less govt?  private sector…not public

The Patriot

You know the NY thing is the first step in regulating our lives through healthcare. “but limiting salt reduces healthcare costs, therefore we can provide better services.” BULLSHIT!

The Defender

they are already looking at soda tax, cigarette tax, beer tax…tanning bed tax…etc etc

The Patriot

once the healthcare bill passes, and it WILL pass, you will more and more of this nonsense.

The Defender

its already in there…except for the unions.  They are exempt from paying.

The Patriot

I will make you a promise. The longer we go with $4.50 coffees at Starbucks, the sooner we will have a coffee tax.

The Defender

well, good…I don’t pay for Starbucks right now…LOLOL

The Patriot

the government will say something like, “those coffees have too many calories. They make people fat and addicted to caffeine. That raises the cost for everyone else, therefore we must add a tax to every cup of coffee.

The Defender

too much sugar….bad teeth

The Patriot

and this is what i mean. the more and more they do this the more and more people will turn away from them and to a movement that stands for liberty and individual freedom.  I hate to say it, but things aren’t bad enough yet.

The Defender

your right…but I think this year it will be not in the next few months…but we have 11 months to go. Stealing the election would be the catalyst

The Patriot

One other thing. I think it is going to be very difficult for most people to take up arms against the federal government. Most people don’t know that the federal army can’t be used to fight the population, but the national guard can.  COULD be the catalyst. but, dude, they have been stealing elections for years.  So what about #4 unbridled self-sacrifice and #5 Trigger event?

The Defender

ok…4 and 5 working

The Patriot

#4 is the willingness of people to leave their homes, take up arms and fight

The Defender

I saw a random post today on one of the blogs about the guard being federalized….that way (legally) no one in the national guard could fight on US Soil

The Patriot

never gonna happen. They need the National Guard to keep the population in check should something break out. You saw what happened when the troops from Ft. Benning helped that Alabama sheriff with the murder thing a few months ago. People went freaking nuts.

The Defender

but, they did suspend posse comitatus for Katrina in New Orleans

The Patriot

they will start with the police, but once they realize that it is so widespread, the president will ask the governors to call up the guard. Something to think about is what if the governors are on our side?  DID THEY??

The Defender

Yes…remember, the 82nd went in and took over the entire effort…Remember????

The Patriot

Hmmmmmm, but I still don’t think most military people would pick up arms against the population anyway. Maybe 30%. and also, there are just not enough people in the military to control a population on 300 million people. Lets say that 100 million people revolted. That would still be almost 30 times the number of people in the armed forces.

The Defender

your right…we only have 1% of the population in the military. Can’t control the population like that.

The Patriot

exactly my point

The Defender

What I’m reading on the blogs, granted they are conservative, is that the people are fed up, and a lot say they are ready to revolt. Two things about that: that is only one point of few (conservative) and talk is cheap…action takes a lot more gumption

The Patriot

So what do we take away from this? Give me your once over and end with your prediction for the future?

The Defender

Two possibilities: One, the conservatives get a backbone and stand up, taking back some seats in 2010 and releasing the tension building in the US. Two, things continue to deteriorate, more and more people are taxed and begin to suffer….and then one tax two far and the Tea Party from 200 years ago looks like a spilled glass.

The Patriot

I respect your opinion but disagree that something will happen this year. I don’t think we have fulfilled all the requirements for an actual revolution.

The Defender

Not yet…but I think its coming.

The Patriot

agreed

The Defender

To be continued!!

Global Warming: The Big Lie v2.0

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

A few days ago I posted my thoughts about the emails recently released, willing or not, from some of the world’s top climate scientists, Climate Change: Is It The Big Lie? Today I find this article on Forbes.  In 1975, I was a very young boy living in the Northwest, enjoying the rain.  Little did I know of the coming ice age…

The Fiction Of Climate Science

Gary Sutton12.04.09, 10:00 AM EST

Why the climatologists get it wrong.

Many of you are too young to remember, but in 1975 our government pushed “the coming ice age.”

Random House dutifully printed “THE WEATHER CONSPIRACY … coming of the New Ice Age.” This may be the only book ever written by 18 authors. All 18 lived just a short sled ride from Washington, D.C. Newsweek fell in line and did a cover issue warning us of global cooling on April 28, 1975. And The New York Times, Aug. 14, 1976, reported “many signs that Earth may be headed for another ice age.”

OK, you say, that’s media. But what did our rational scientists say?

In 1974, the National Science Board announced: “During the last 20 to 30 years, world temperature has fallen, irregularly at first but more sharply over the last decade. Judging from the record of the past interglacial ages, the present time of high temperatures should be drawing to an end…leading into the next ice age.”

You can’t blame these scientists for sucking up to the fed’s mantra du jour. Scientists live off grants. Remember how Galileo recanted his preaching about the earth revolving around the sun? He, of course, was about to be barbecued by his leaders. Today’s scientists merely lose their cash flow. Threats work.

In 2002 I stood in a room of the Smithsonian. One entire wall charted the cooling of our globe over the last 60 million years. This was no straight line. The curve had two steep dips followed by leveling. There were no significant warming periods. Smithsonian scientists inscribed it across some 20 feet of plaster, with timelines.

Last year, I went back. That fresco is painted over. The same curve hides behind smoked glass, shrunk to three feet but showing the same cooling trend. Hey, why should the Smithsonian put its tax-free status at risk? If the politicians decide to whip up public fear in a different direction, get with it, oh ye subsidized servants. Downplay that embarrassing old chart and maybe nobody will notice.

Sorry, I noticed.

It’s the job of elected officials to whip up panic. They then get re-elected. Their supporters fall in line.

Al Gore thought he might ride his global warming crusade back toward the White House. If you saw his movie, which opened showing cattle on his farm, you start to understand how shallow this is. The United Nations says that cattle, farting and belching methane, create more global warming than all the SUVs in the world. Even more laughably, Al and his camera crew flew first class for that film, consuming 50% more jet fuel per seat-mile than coach fliers, while his Tennessee mansion sucks as much carbon as 20 average homes.

His PR folks say he’s “carbon neutral” due to some trades. I’m unsure of how that works, but, maybe there’s a tribe in the Sudan that cannot have a campfire for the next hundred years to cover Al’s energy gluttony. I’m just not sophisticated enough to know how that stuff works. But I do understand he flies a private jet when the camera crew is gone.

The fall of Saigon in the ’70s may have distracted the shrill pronouncements about the imminent ice age. Science’sprediction of “A full-blown, 10,000 year ice age,” came from its March 1, 1975 issue. The Christian Science Monitor observed that armadillos were retreating south from Nebraska to escape the “global cooling” in its Aug. 27, 1974 issue.

That armadillo caveat seems reminiscent of today’s tales of polar bears drowning due to glaciers disappearing.

While scientists march to the drumbeat of grant money, at least trees don’t lie. Their growth rings show what’s happened no matter which philosophy is in power. Tree rings show a mini ice age in Europe about the time Stradivarius crafted his violins. Chilled Alpine Spruce gave him tighter wood so the instruments sang with a new purity. But England had to give up the wines that the Romans cultivated while our globe cooled, switching from grapes to colder weather grains and learning to take comfort with beer, whisky and ales.

Yet many centuries earlier, during a global warming, Greenland was green. And so it stayed and was settled by Vikings for generations until global cooling came along. Leif Ericsson even made it to Newfoundland. His shallow draft boats, perfect for sailing and rowing up rivers to conquer villages, wouldn’t have stood a chance against a baby iceberg.

Those sustained temperature swings, all before the evil economic benefits of oil consumption, suggest there are factors at work besides humans.

Today, as I peck out these words, the weather channel is broadcasting views of a freakish and early snow falling on Dallas. The Iowa state extension service reports that the record corn crop expected this year will have unusually large kernels, thanks to “relatively cool August and September temperatures.” And on Jan. 16, 2007, NPR went politically incorrect, briefly, by reporting that “An unusually harsh winter frost, the worst in 20 years, killed much of the California citrus, avocados and flower crops.”

To be fair, those reports are short-term swings. But the longer term changes are no more compelling, unless you include the ice ages, and then, perhaps, the panic attempts of the 1970s were right. Is it possible that if we put more CO2 in the air, we’d forestall the next ice age?

I can ask “outrageous” questions like that because I’m not dependent upon government money for my livelihood. From the witch doctors of old to the elected officials today, scaring the bejesus out of the populace maintains their status.

Sadly, the public just learned that our scientific community hid data and censored critics. Maybe the feds should drop this crusade and focus on our health care crisis. They should, of course, ignore the life insurance statistics that show every class of American and both genders are living longer than ever. That’s another inconvenient fact.

“…the perils of too little [government].”

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Last night President Obama gave a passionate speech to a joint session of congress about the merits and necessity of his healthcare plan. He used the typical tactic of saying that the right is trying to scare people away from the bill, then went on to list his own horror stories of why people should support the bill. The most repeated “scare tactic” is that Americans are going to die without this bill’s passage.

It also didn’t take him long to get back to the campaign tactic of blaming the Bush administration for America’s woes. We all knew it was coming and we were not disappointed.

During the speech, one of the Republican members shouted “You lie!” and the hall fell into a moment of disorientation. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of The House, turned to look at security with a look on her face of, “well aren’t you going to remove him?” Personally, I do think the president was lying to the American people, but one doesn’t disrespect the office of the president. No matter how much we disagree with the man or his politics, the office must be respected. Was the congressman right? Yes. Should he have acted that way? No.

President Obama made the case against all the information we have been hearing about his plan lately. He said that no plan would be signed that didn’t “add one dime to the deficit.” Now how is that possible? Trying to insure 25% of the population without increasing spending. What does he know that we don’t? He also said that he would not cut Medicare. Then went on to talk about the money he was going to save by cutting Medicare. I don’t know of anyone else caught that, but that’s what he said. He said that there would be no “death panels”. But the bill itself refers to panels that discuss “end of life” issues. Uh, isn’t that a death panel? He said that the bill would not cover illegal aliens. Again, the bill itself says that citizenship is not a requirement for the “public option”, which is really a “government option.” The reason why they call it the “public option” is because THE PUBLIC (you and me!) are the ones paying for it.

The president stated that his bill would require people “that can afford health insurance” to carry health insurance. He said this would be similar to current state requirements for automobile insurance. Wait, so now it is illegal NOT to have health insurance based simply on the belief that we can afford it or not? Are police going to ask for your license, registration, proof of insurance AND proof of health care? Are we going to be cited for not having health insurance? And who decides whether or not we can afford this mandatory insurance? Anyone tried to get on government assistance lately? Basically, if you have a job, you make too much money!

One of the main things that caught my attention last night and has been noodling around in me head was the president’s reference to “…the perils of too little government.” I would have liked the president to expand on this issue and actually list these perils. I have been thinking about this and the perils that I see are, self-reliance, independence, a sense of community, people helping people and above all, liberty. Now before you scream at me about taking the president out of context let me give you all of the presidents’ words. “You see, our predecessors understood that government could not, and should not, solve every problem. They understood that there are instances when the gains in security from government action are not worth the added constraints on our freedom. But they also understood that the danger of too much government is matched by the perils of too little;…”

The problem as I see it is not the size of our government. We all agree it is too big. The problem lies with who determines what “too big” is.

Personally, Mr. President, I would gladly take the perils of “too little government” over the tyranny of “too much.”
