Congressional Reform Act of 2010

Congressional Reform Act of 2010Target:CongressSponsored by: A Fed Up AmericanThe following bill should be introduced in Congress. It would be called the Congressional Reform Act of 2010. It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They believed that serving in Congress is an honor not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, who would serve their terms, then go home and back to work, Remember, Congress currently has the lowest approval of any entity in Government. Now is the time when Americans should join together to reform Congress – the entity that represents us.

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six year Senate terms
B. Six Two year House terms
C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension:
A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system; Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective one year after passage of the bill .
The American people did not make contracts with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Those are some interesting, and entertaining, points; but Congress would NEVER vote any of these points on themselves! The people in Washington, in my humble opinion, only care about power…they no longer are in touch, or care for, the American people. – - The Defender

We don’t need more legislation to control Congress. We just need to follow the ORIGINAL legislation set forth by The Constitution. There are specific powers delegated to the Congress of The United States (Article I, Section 8; Article IV, Section 3; and the 16th Amendment). All other power resides with The States. The Problem is that Congress has bastardized these powers into what we have today: power-hungry career politicians who believe they know what’s better for you than you do. They have forgotten that it was The States that created the Federal Government, NOT THE OTHER WAY ‘ROUND! They have forgotten that their power comes from US! They have forgotten that we hold the power in this country and it is damn time we remind them of that! The people run this damn country, NOT THE GOVERNMENT! – - The Patriot

Back When People Went to Washington to Serve…

Remember when people went to Washington D.C. to be public servants?  I Do, and Alan West does too.  Listen to this…

If that doesn’t get your blood pumping and your heart racing then you have no business being on this website!

This is what I have been screaming for years and its finally nice to hear it from a fellow constitutional conservative who is running for congress.  This is who we need in Congress, not the people we have now.  We need leaders that will act on their convictions and tell people, “No!”  We need leaders that have already served this country in the military.  We need leaders that will fight wars to win them and not as political tools.  We need leaders that will hold people accountable and not fall into the trap of lobbyists and their own self-interests.  We need leaders that have earned our respect and don’ take that for granted by their position.  We need leaders that have worked in the private sector and not spent their entire careers in politics.  We need leaders who have struggled and know what its like to choose to either pay their taxes or buy groceries.  We need leaders that know the difference between a right and an entitlement program.  We need leaders who speak to their constituents from their convictions, not to the camera from their tele-prompters.  We need leaders willing to sacrifice power to do what’s right, not do anything to keep it.

Today we have people in Washington that serve their own interests not those of their constituents.  The Democrats and those mis-guided Republicans are spending our money to the breaking point and them coming back to get more.  We are a never ending source of tax money for their vote-buying schemes and “social justice”, redistributive agendas.

Men and women like Alan West in Congress will stop this out of control spending and take back America and hopefully return us to a path of liberty and prosperity.  Return us to the framework of the Constitution because;

We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
