Quick Thought: State of The Union

President Obama’s State of the Union address a few days ago was nothing new.  It was very similar to President Bush’s SOTU speech late in his presidency.  Here are a few quotes from his 90 minutes address.

“So we face big and difficult challenges.  And what the American people hope -– what they deserve -– is for all of us, Democrats and Republicans, to work through our differences; to overcome the numbing weight of our politics.” – Mr. president, you speak out of both sides of your mouth.  The Republicans delivered idea after idea about reforming healthcare, but you didn’t want to hear any of them.  Why were Republicans shut out of every single meeting?  Don’t tell us that you want to work across the isle, we all know that’s a lie!

“So I supported the last administration’s efforts to create the financial rescue program.  And when we took that program over, we made it more transparent and more accountable.” – You also made it more worthless.  Money went to things that created no jobs, but fudged the numbers to look like they did.  Most of us, the American people, wanted to let the banks fail.  Business is business.  Why are we responsible for their lack of ability to run their business.  My business failed, where was my bailout?

“And we haven’t raised income taxes by a single dime on a single person.  Not a single dime.” – That is a bold faced lie, Mr. President and you know it!

“Because of the steps we took, there are about two million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed.” – Sir, we have never used “saved” jobs as a benchmark for the number of jobs created.  This is an obvious attempt to hide the facts from the American people.

No matter what the media and the talking heads in Washington tell us, we know the truth.  The economy blows, prices are too high, nobody is buying homes, businesses aren’t hiring because fewer and fewer people have spending money at the end of the month, banks aren’t lending and going after people who traditionally have paid their bills but are a few months behind.  THings are not getting better, in fact they are getting much worse.  There will come a time when these power-hungry politicians realize that we, the American people, hold the power in this country, NOT THEM!!!
