How Has Our “Great Experiment” Come To This?

How has our “Great Experiment” come to this?  In under 250 years we have gone from a fledgling nation based on individual freedom and liberty to the brink of becoming another socio-communist state.  In those 250 years, we have seen the rise and fall of almost EVERY socialist, communist and fascist regime on the planet.  Those that still exist live in a country 50, 60 sometimes 100 years behind our own.  For example, in Cuba, they still drive cars from the 1950’s because they lack the infrastructure to build modern vehicles.  The Nazi Fascists in Germany killed 12 Million people, including 6 Million Jews, and yet their 1,000 year reich only lasted 12 years.  The Russian Communists held power from 1922 to 1991, a mere 69 years and yet it only took Stalin 5 years to kill upwards of 60 Million people.  Even today we have dictators like Muammer Qaddafi, Kim Jong-il and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.  In Iran we see almost daily protests for political reformation being crushed by police.  Even here in America, “Tea Party” protestors are widely considered by our “progressive” friends as terrorists and insurgents.  Our government has even gone so far as to list military veterans as possible terrorists, “Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she was briefed before the release of a controversial intelligence assessment and that she stands by the report, which lists returning veterans among terrorist risks to the U.S.” [source: The Washington Times]

So here we are.  Weakened and in debt to the tune of 12 Trillion Dollars!  Most of that debt is held by a communist government.  We import far more than we export and our national assets of 74 Trillion Dollars are dwarfed by our National Liabilities of 106 Trillion Dollars.  Many of our states are on the brink of financial collapse and the attempt to create jobs for our people has all but failed.  More people than ever are losing their homes and the banks have almost completely stopped lending to small business entrepreneurs.  Our government’s solution to this crisis is to tax the rich.  Tax the people in this country that already shoulder most of the burden.  Tax the people that create jobs through their investing and their business creation.  Tax the people that have the financial means to give more to charities.  Tax the people that have the financial stability that we all crave desperately.  Brilliant.  On top of all that we are forced to “bail-out” failing banks and automobile companies.  Now they are going to ram a massive government take-over of healthcare down our throats and have the audacity to tell us it is deficit neutral.  Are there really people that believe this nonsense?  We have been severely weakened economically to the point where The United States stands ready to lose its AAA credit rating in the world and other currencies are being touted to replace the Dollar as the global currency of choice.  250 years ago, there was no Dollar.  Now we have all but destroyed it.

Not only have we been weakened financially, but we are being weakened morally.  Day after day I hear accounts of this mall and that not playing Christmas music because someone got offended.  Or a city council removing a nativity scene because someone saw it and was enraged by the public display of religion.  Or, the school that has all but cancelled their annual celebration of Christmas because a non-Christian parent complained.  And yet, we are forced to endure Godless and sanctimonious greetings like Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings.  I know both sides of this fight because I was born to a Jewish Mother, therefore I am genetically Jewish.  I grew up celebrating Hanukah with my Father and sitting through the school Christmas plays as one of the few Jewish kids at my school.  My Father didn’t complain because he knew and understood the Constitution.  I was happy to celebrate Christmas with my friends and teach them about my holidays and my faith.  In doing so, we all grew more knowledgeable about each other and our diversities.  Today people think that if one person celebrates their holiday it takes away from someone else celebrating theirs.  That couldn’t be more wrong and is absolutely against what the Constitution stands for.  We are supposed to defend our own faith as well as the faith of our fellow citizens, not destroy their faith to bolster our own.

So what do we do?  I for one am teaching my kids to shoot, not only to defend themselves if necessary but to hunt if it comes to it.  I know that sounds radical but I am also talking with my wife about starting a small garden and adding solar cells to the roof, as well.  More importantly, I stand up for my beliefs and defend the beliefs of others.  When someone greets me with a Happy Holidays I smile and give them a Merry Christmas in return.  Don’t be afraid to offend someone, but don’t make it your aim to offend them.  Be genuine.  Read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and teach them to your children.  Teach them how our country was founded and relate our Founding Fathers’ deeds to what we must to today.  Make sure you understand the difference between a “right” and a “privilege.”  Understand that with rights come responsibility.  Get in the fight.  Organize, fund-raise, create groups to voice your opinions, support your candidate of choice and be ready to defend your positions and your values.

Friends, I believe a war is coming.  When, I don’t know but I can tell you that I will ready for it.  Whether it is fought with ideas and speeches or vehicles and guns, I am ready.  Are you?  250 years ago, a group of insurgents defeated the greatest military power on the planet and secured their freedom from tyranny, they also secured yours.  In the 250 years since, it has been a continuous battle to keep our country free and millions have paid with their lives.  In the coming years we all may be called upon to do the same.  I don’t look forward to it and i don’t want it to happen, but if our country continues down this path, it may be something nobody can stop.  I DO NOT advocate violence toward any person or organization, and I certainly DO NOT want any harm to come to our current leadership.  But I will defend my liberty!  If a political, economic, social or physical battle is coming you need to be ready for it.  The best way you can prepare is to be educated about the principles this country was founded on: Individual liberty and responsibility; That all people are equal; That equal opportunity does not mean equal reward; And that it is the duty of every citizen to protect the freedoms of the other.

We can change future events, but it takes education, planning and the will to fight for our freedom.  As Alan West said so eloquently, “I will not go down and tell my children that I didn’t have the courage, the conviction, the commitment or the character to fight for this country.  Don’t go home and let your children down.”

How Many ‘Top Priorities’ Can One President Have?

After the Senate passed that $600 million Border Security Bill yesterday, President Obama issued a statement asserting that securing the southwest border has been “a top priority” since he took office.

But if you think Mr. Obama can have but a single “top priority,” you’d be wrong. He’s got a load of them.

In an Address to the Nation two months ago, Mr. Obama declared “our top priority is to recover and rebuild from a recession that has touched the lives of nearly every American.”

More than any other issue, he has used the phrase “top priority” about digging the economy out of the recession and creating jobs. And on this issue, he drew a distinction between “a” top priority and “the” top priority.

“Creating jobs in the United States and ensuring a return to sustainable economic growth is the top priority for my Administration,” he said in an Executive Order last March on his National Export Initiative.

Early in his administration, Mr. Obama also assigned the “top priority” label to his campaign promise to overhaul America’s health care system. But a check of his speeches since taking office, reflect a bevy of other “top priorities:”

FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS: “…that’s something that’s going to be a top priority.” (4/27/10)

ENERGY SECURITY: “And that’s why my energy security plan has been one of the top priorities of my Administration since the day I took office.” (4/28/10)

EDUCATION REFORM: “To train our workers for the jobs of tomorrow, we’ve made education reform a top priority in this Administration.” (2/24/10)

STUDENT LOAN REFORM: “This is something that I’ve made a top priority.” (2/1/10)

EXPORTS BY SMALL BUSINESSES: “This is going to be a top priority.” (12/3/09)

HEALTH ASSISTANCE TO 9/11 FIRST RESPONDERS: “I’m not just talking the talk, we’ve been budgeting this as a top priority for this Administration.” (2/3/10)

The dictionary defines “top” as a singular entity: “the part of anything that is first or foremost.”

By designating a multitude of “top priorities,” Mr. Obama can be seen trying to score political points with the constituencies for all of these issues.

Fly The Flag With Pride, And Fight For It!

A Navy veteran is fighting to be able to show his patriotism by flying an American flag outside his apartment building.

Joe LeVangie, 88, said he’s upset after he and his neighbors were told to take their flags down because flying them was against management policy. He said there should be an exception for the flag.

LeVangie, a World War II veteran, said he used to fly his American flag outside his apartment at the Maple Leaf complex in Hillsborough.

“In respect for all the troops serving overseas now and for those who never came back,” he said.

But recently, his management company told all residents that their flags had to come down. The brackets for the flag poles were also removed.

“I was madder than hell,” he said. “Come to find out, it was the maintenance man who was told to do so.”

The same thing happened to Margery Kenney, who lives next door. Her brackets were taken down, and her flag is now rolled up against the wall.

“My whole family was in the service, and it’s a shame something like this was allowed to happen,” she said.

EJL Management said the flags violate a blanket policy prohibiting such displays. A letter sent to LeVangie said a letter sent to him by the company said it was part of a policy that also prohibits lawn ornaments and grills.

The company said that to honor residents’ patriotism, a flag was placed at the entrance of Maple Leaf. But LeVangie said a single flag is not enough.

“Why should it be sufficient?” he said. “Is the one in Concord sufficient for the state of New Hampshire?”

LeVangie’s rent is subsidized by the federal government. A representative from the Department of Housing and Urban Development said EJL is complying with the Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005.

Update: Hillsborough police say an agreement has been reached to allow LeVangie and other residents to fly the U.S. flag and make sure the flags are in good condition.

National Debt: The Truth

If you’re like me, you pay attention to what happens in our country.  For over 40 years we have been bombarded by the term “National Debt.”  But do we really understand what that means?  It was a big issue in the last election and President Obama promised not to pass a bill that “added a penny” to the National Debt.  Do average Americans understand the complexities of our economy?  Do you?  I don’t want to turn this into an economics class so I will skip the minutiae and cut right to the main two points.

Basically our entire complex economy can be explained fairly simply if you realize that our national wealth is really the difference between our gross worth, which we will call Gross Domestic Product ‘GDP’, and out total debt.  Our GDP is basically everything in our country.  Everything!  Every car, sink, house, spoon, dollar, pencil, light switch coin, etc.  everything you do at your job adds to the GDP.  Everything you buy adds to the GDP.  Imports, exports, EVERYTHING!  Our debt is outstanding financial obligations incurred by the governments.  Pay close attention to the ‘S’ because we are not talking about just the federal government, we are talking about ALL government.  State, Federal, Local, County, City, etc.  Most of the governments try not to spend more than they take in…   and most of them fail.  The amount at which they fail is our debt.  Yes, OUR debt.  It’s not the cities debt, or the state’s debt, but your debt and my debt.  I say that because WE are the ones that will be forced to pay for it, therefore it is our debt.

So we have the good money, GDP and the bad money, Debt.  So simply subtracting our debt, from our GDP will give us our national worth.  As of this writing out total GDP was $14,334,713,000,000 and our Debt was 12,794,769,000,000.  That’s a difference of $1,539,944,000,000.  So everything we have minus everything we owe equals 1.5 Trillion Dollars.  Our country’s current worth is 1.5 Trillion Dollars and is falling by the minute.  Right now our Debt to GDP ratio is 89.3%.  We have almost reached the point in our national history where we owe more than our country is worth.  We will join a long list of countries where this has happened.  Here is a short list: The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Vietnam, North Korea, Iran, Rwanda, and many more.

My fellow patriots, we have to stop spending.  We have to force our population to be more accountable for their own survival and less reliant on government.  This is not a cradle to grave society, no matter what the Liberals tell us, no matter what the new media says.

There is an election coming up in which some major changes can occur.  Get involved and get these big spenders out of office.  Don’t vote party, don’t vote right or left…   Vote principles and vote for the future of our country.

So This Is The Change We Need?

With the passage last night of the “Healthcare” Bill and the signing of that Bill into Law by the president, America has taken the largest turn toward Socialism in its history.  The president and the Dems on Capitol Hill are walking around calling this a historic moment in America and I agree with them.  So this is the “change” Mr. Obama ran on.  This is the “change” his duped supporters swallowed during the election.  This is the “change” that you and I will be forced to live and pay for for the rest of our lives.

A few days ago I heard the president touting what this “change” would mean for America.  Now let me tell you the truth:

MYTH: The president said that millions of Americans will now be able to get “the same” healthcare that members of Congress get.

FACT:  This is a lie!  Members of Congress get elite medical treatment through the Capitol Hill medical system.

MYTH:  The president said that this legislation will cut the deficit, “by over a trillion dollars.”

FACT: This is a lie!  The Congressional Budget Office states that this bill will cut the deficit by 138 Billion.  First, this is NOWHERE near a Trillion dollars.  Second, This 138 Billion is only saved IF the Medicare cuts go through AND doesn’t take into account the “Doctor Fix.”  Recently, Obama said that he would cut the fees  paid to doctors that treat Medicare patients.  This was supposed to save about 400 Billion and help pay for the “healthcare” bill.  The problem is that at the last minute, the “Doctor Fix” was taken out of the Bill!  Say goodbye to any possible deficit cuts.

MYTH: Over the last several weeks, the president has vilified insurance companies and bug drug companies.  He talked about “eliminating insurance subsidies within Medicare that aren’t making anybody healthier but are fattening the profits of insurance companies.”

FACT:  At the last minute, several provisions were put into the legislation that HELP big drug companies and actually MAKE MORE MONEY for the insurance companies.  The president stated that he would lower healthcare premium increases and make insurance more affordable.  This is a lie!!  With these last minute provisions, insurance premiums will still increase and any penalties imposed by the federal government can AND WILL simply be passed onto consumers.

MYTH: The president has said that you will not be affected by this legislation.

FACT:  Every American will be affected by this new law.  Either you will be the one of the recipients or you will be one of the providers.  let be define each a little more.  For those of you that have worked hard in your field, provided for your family, made mostly wise financial decisions and already have adequate healthcare – YOU ARE NOW A PROVIDER.  If you have struggled with finding work, have found it hard to pay your bills and mortgage, agonize about whether to pay bills or buy food and look to the government for long-term help – YOU ARE A RECIPIENT.  With the passage of this bill, the Democrats (against the will of the people) have shackled our kids with Trillions in debt.

MYTH: Bart Stupak and the “Pro-life” Democrats oppose government funding of abortion

FACT:  Under intense pressure from the White House and Congressional leaders, Stupak and the rest have sold out their principles for their own re-elections.  Through the guise of an Executive Order, the White House BOUGHT the votes they needed to pass this MASSIVE spending bill.

MYTH: The House passed this bill with specific guarantees that the Senate would vote on a “Fix Bill.”  This is supposed to fix everything that is wrong with the bill that just passed.  WAIT!?!?!  If there are things that need to be “FIXED” in this WHY DID IT GET PASSED?

FACT:  This bill should NOT have passed!  The American people didn’t want it.  The “Fix Bill” won’t fix anything.

My friends, I truly believe that this is the beginning of the end for our form of government and out way of life.  Now that Obama has rammed one piece of Socialism through, they will stop at nothing.  Next on the agenda will be Immigration Reform.  Mark my words, Obama and his cronies will give away our country!

The time is rapidly approaching where diplomatic solutions won’t be enough.  Those in power talk about bi-partisanship while not listening to anyone in the public.  They lie to the American people about EVERYTHING then smile and applaud as they steal our money.

The election this November will be a telling factor as to the future of our country.

One last thought: If the Dems thought the Tea Parties were big in the last few years, WAIT UNTIL APRIL 15TH THIS YEAR!

Is it too late to save America?

If you are a frequent visitor to Sick and Tired American, then you are well aware of all the problems the US is currently facing.  As few as 10 or 20 years ago, I would have thought that American could survive any and all of these crisis (and yes, they are crisis) without a second thought.  Today, right now, I am afraid that my children will NEVER know the America that should be.

There are people in the world that want to destroy America because we believe in freedom; because we believe in the rights of people to do with their lives what they want — within reason.  These people hide behind religion, politics and innocents to achieve their goal.  They are closer to achieving their goal than you think; we have lost some of our freedom from fear and the necessity to “profile” certain people.  But that is only part; we have also lost the freedom to choose to defend our own country.   The current administration wants to treat all of these terrorists as an American; to give them the same rights and privileges as a common street mugger.

The current Rules of Engagement (ROE) that the troops are forced to use in the field are an absolute travesty.   The men and women who have volunteered to lay their lives on the line for this country have had their hands tied because they can’t even SHOOT the damn enemy.  That stupidity is designed to do one thing; it will get more American Soldiers killed so that public opinion will turn against the war and the people will demand our troops come home.

Our own elected officials have done more damage in the last year than the terrorists have done in 10.  These politicians have put their own agenda before the will of the people: Cap and Trade (which will necessarily cause your utilities to skyrocket — Obama said), reading miranda rights to terrorists, out-lawing enhanced interrogation (water-boarding), and of course Healthcare.  The current administration is hellbent to pass a LAW that 75% of America doesn’t want; one that isn’t about providing healthcare to everyone (because it doesn’t), but a law that will allow the politicians to control your lives.  Its a law designed to addict you to their will; to ensure that you will vote them in forever or lose your “rights”.

Lets talk about the healthcare bill: its supposed to provide healthcare for 94% of all Americans — not even all of them  – at a cost of 1 TRILLION dollars over ten years. Oh, you’ll pay taxes for 4 years until anyone gets any benefits — isn’t that GREAT?!?!  Currently, around 85% of Americans have healthcare and like what they have; so your going to tax 85% of America a Trillion Dollars to cover 9% of America…does that really sound like a plan for healthcare?  No, its designed to get Americans on the Government teet so that they become addicted to the sweet Government Nectar called “entitlements”.   If, no WHEN, this passes (by hook or by crook), there will be more and more votes for legislative “rights” to give  to Americans…sinking the country deeper and deeper into entitlement debt.

Speaking of hook or crook, Congress (both houses, both parties) is using every trick in the arsenal (and even making other tricks up) to pass this Healthcare bill.  Congress has bribed members (Florida is exempt, Nebraska is exempt, Louisiana received 300M, etc, etc) to gain votes.  Most of the negotiations have been done by one party behind closed doors – what exactly is Bi-Partisanship again?  Again, your going to destroy 85% of the current American Healthcare policies to cover an additional 9%…that just doesn’t pass the sanity check, unless your just trying to take CONTROL.

On the debt, as of today, EVERY American — all 320 Million of them — owe $40,000 dollars to the government.  This will just break us even.  Now, I have a family of four, I just don’t have $160,000 lying around.   No matter what you’ve thought of Bush, or Clinton, or any proceeding President…none of them can hold a candle to the amount of money Obama spent in 1 year.   My grandchildren will be paying off the debt that these people are running up.

So, is it too late to save America?  Has this country been “fundamentally” changed so much that we can’t go back to the way this country is supposed to be?  The more I see what these people in Washington are doing, the more I think that this country is gone; its a scarred former shadow of itself that can never recover.   Even with a complete change of power in November, the damage is done.  There are millions of Americans already addicted to the Government Teet.

There is only one thing that can save the country now; and even then the scars will run long and deep.  As much as it pains me to say it, the only way to get this country back to what the founding fathers envisioned will be another revolution.  I am NOT calling for a revolution (DHS bite me), but I see a complete takeover as the only way to UNDO all of this damage.  I took an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic; the very Constitution that this administration seems to be ignoring, bypassing, and destroying.  This  current administration, in my opinion, is quickly becoming a domestic enemy to the Constitution.  Its a fine line, I’m sure, but I really and truly think that the country — as it stands now — is irreparably damaged and my children will never know the true freedoms that America once stood for.

I pray that I’m wrong…but I’m prepared for the worst.

Welcome To The Matrix

Okay, The Patriot, has finally lost his mind.  That’s what many of you are thinking right now.  Many of you thought that years ago when I created this site.  But with the unveiling of the latest incarnation of “Healthcare”, or as I like to call it, “The Ultimate Liberal Scheme To Take My Money And Give It Their Supporter So They Will Continue To Get Elected-Care,” the liberals on capitol hill have shown their true colors again.  Obama’s colorful language doesn’t hide his belief (and the belief of most liberals) that hard working, tax payers are nothing more than batteries that feed the federal government.  Without us, they would have no revenue and with no revenue they would have nothing to give their voting block.  So you see, we (the people that REALLY pay taxes in this country) are their “cash-cow.”  Every time the “good idea fairy” shows her face around Washington, they simply tax us more to pay for their vote buying schemes.  ”Obama-care” is the biggest scam yet.

Frankly, I am sick and tired of paying for other people!  Yes I feel compassion for them and will help them when I can.  BUT DON’T FORCE ME TOO!!!  These Liberals use the tax code to force us into doing what they want and I can’t take anymore.  We, the American people, are NOT responsible for the bad decisions of others, damn it!  If you slept around and have 5 kids from 3 different men, that’s your own fault; If you got addicted to Meth while in college and failed out and now live on the street, that’s your own damn fault; If you made bad business decisions and your Wall Street investing firm is going under, that’s your fault!  Why are we, the American people, responsible for bailing you out, or paying for your healthcare, or feeding your children?  We’re not!

But…..   I guarantee you that if you are reading this, you do give to charities and you do help those in need.  but you do it because it is the right thing to do and your heart is generous, not because some Washington Liberal ordered you too.  I have 3 children that depend on me to feed them, clothe them, educate them, and provide for their future.  My wife is a stay-at-home Mom and a home-schooler, which means she works as hard or harder than I do for our family.  We have not always been financially stable and I have not always held long-term jobs.  In fact, I have switched careers several times in my life.  But we have NEVER taken from a government program and when we did apply, we either made too much money the year before or weren’t the right skin color.  I will never rely on the federal government for anything with regards to my family.  They will not feed, house, clothe, or educate my children.  The moment they do, I have failed them as a parent.  Now please don’t get me wrong.  There are times in life when everyone needs a helping hand.  All of us need a boost up from time to time.  Turning to the government should be a last resort.  There are plenty churches and private charities that are there for those times when all seems lost.  When you turn to the government, you become beholden to the government.  In my eyes, its like selling your soul for one more meal.

My friends, just like in The Matrix, you are the energy that keeps the machine running.  Your tax dollars are their blood and eventually they are going to run out of people to bleed.  We’re not their yet, but we’re close.

It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They believed that serving in Congress is an honor not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, who would serve their terms, then go home and back to work, Remember, Congress currently has the lowest approval of any entity in Government. Now is the time when Americans should join together to reform Congress – the entity that represents us.

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six year Senate terms
B. Six Two year House terms
C. One Six year Senate term and three Two Year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension:
A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system; Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective one year after passage of the bill .
The American people did not make contracts with congressmen, congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Those are some interesting, and entertaining, points; but Congress would NEVER vote any of these points on themselves! The people in Washington, in my humble opinion, only care about power…they no longer are in touch, or care for, the American people. – - The Defender

We don’t need more legislation to control Congress. We just need to follow the ORIGINAL legislation set forth by The Constitution. There are specific powers delegated to the Congress of The United States (Article I, Section 8; Article IV, Section 3; and the 16th Amendment). All other power resides with The States. The Problem is that Congress has bastardized these powers into what we have today: power-hungry career politicians who believe they know what’s better for you than you do. They have forgotten that it was The States that created the Federal Government, NOT THE OTHER WAY ‘ROUND! They have forgotten that their power comes from US! They have forgotten that we hold the power in this country and it is damn time we remind them of that! The people run this damn country, NOT THE GOVERNMENT! – - The Patriot
